Bloggers now drive campaign coverage?

We have a major feature up at E&P right now on how bloggers at mainstream news outlets -- with their 24/7 work ethic and, gosh, links to YouTube -- are really driving coverage of the race for the White House. Good or bad? Are they only helping to guarantee that we will not just have "Clinton fatigue" but "Obama fatigue" and "Everyone Else fatigue" before the first votes are cast? Check it out at http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003685680

The problem with newspaper blogs is that they simply re-cover and reinforce their paper's (and the media's overall) established narratives. They ignore everyone except for Hillary and Obama, and Rudy/Romney/Huckabee, and they are almost exclusively devoid of actual policy and proposal items. There's no meat to them, and only gossip and horserace stuff, which is exactly what you find in the papers themselves.

They're no use to us, just as we've found the media coverage overall lacking enormously and totally devoted to nonsense and horseraces/slurs/catfights.
