Million dollar bash

Interesting contrast today between Hillary Clinton admitting she had to loan her campaign $5 million of her own money (that's a lot of book royalties?) and the Obama team claiming tonight that they had raised, to pick a round number, $5 million from small donors since yesterday. The money race really matters, like it or not. And as I noted yesterday, virtually all of the contests in the next three weeks favor him -- and many are caucuses where for whatever reason (see my post on "race" below)he really excels. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that if he sweeps, and continues to clean up in funding, it will be Obama, not Clinton, who looks "inevitable" by March 4.

Of course, look what happened to her after she got that tag. And the latest Gallup poll, taken on Tuesday, suddenly (if briefly) showed Clinton with a stunning 13% lead nationally. A one day blip? Buyer's remorse for some Obama fans? Or something else?

This is the first time in history that a woman and an African American have a legitimate shot at the White House. It's exciting to many, threatning to some, interesting to all. Expect record turnouts on this Super Tuesday and an even higher turnout for the general election in November. We are witnessing history and everyone wants to be in on the action.
