I lived in post-war Germany from '52-'54 as a child, ages 8-10, when my dad worked for the CIA. We lived in an apartment complex that had be housing for SS officers and their families. (They were quite luxurious.)I remember my dad saying more than once that whenever he met a German citizen that they always said they'd fought on the Eastern front if the topic of the War came up.
