Mostly Beethoven

Heading out to NYC later this afternoon for the double-bill of the summer: Beethoven's (only) violin concerto and revolutionary Eroica symphony, ironically as part of Mostly Mozart festival.  Here's the climax of the film Eroica, with the climax of the symphony and Haydn's claim (based on actual quote) that "everything is different after today."  Yes, that's Tim Pigott-Smith as military officer (and Beethoven hater) and Ian Hart as Ludwig (he also made a great John Lennon).  The very populist Beethoven tears up his dedication to Napoleon after learning he has declared himself emperor--also true.
