'Big Dog' Big Foots NFL

The ratings are out and it's official:  Bill Clinton is still more popular than Eli Manning and Tony Romo.  More viewers tuned in to the DNC last night between 10 and 11 last night, even though the NFL season opener was well into its second-half in a close game.  But the game did cut into viewers, as the night fell short of the previous night, starring Michelle Obama.  (She easily topped Ann Romney's night.)   Perhaps not a shock: MSNBC, for a rare time, again topped Fox in the ratings.

It appears that the NYT is using Nielsen numbers for just the traditional three "major" commercial over-the-air networks. I don't believe the Fox broadcast network offered coverage at 10:00 pm; they turn that hour over to its owned-and-operated or affiliate stations. PBS's over-the-air stations is some markets did. In Boston, the WGBH-TV sibling WGBX-TV did and the primary PBS outlet in New Hampshire, NH Public Television (channel 11.1 between Manchester and Portsmouth did). I forgot to check, but I wouldn't be surprised if Univison Spanish televion carried it too.
