Props for This Prop

I'll be writing more in weeks ahead about Prop. 34, on this November's ballot, which could abolish the death penalty in California and replace it with life without parole. This was a course I suggested in my recent ebook on the history of capital punishment in the U.S., Dead Reckoning.  For now here's a link to a new L.A. Times op-ed backing the prop, though with this twist:  Unlike me, he does not oppose it on moral grounds, or because innocent cons may be killed, but simply because--it costs too damn much to keep it in place.
