50 Years of Beatles
Half a century ago today (egad, and I was old enough to be a young fan) the Beatles released their first single, "Love Me Do." Here's a rare live version, John on harp:
At 8 years old I was old enough to appreciate the sound of The Beatles and the other great sounds coming out of Merseyside, but alas not old enough yet to go to any of their concerts. What a missed opportunity.
I did however grow up just a stones throw from where John Lennon bought a house for his Aunt Mimi at Sandbanks, and I have fond memories of growing up listening to The Beatles.
