Sunday Morning in the Church of Beethoven

My weekly featuring, this time with the final movement of his string quartet no. 6--also the final movement of his first opus grouping of six quartets.  It truly pointed the way to all that followed in his quartet writing.  As always, if interested, check out my Beethoven book.

I was just telling my son that I have difficulty listening to Beethoven sometimes because I find it emotionally exhausting. Its as if I can't even believe what he is trying to say- he takes me a little close to the flame for comfort sometimes. What genius! Yet the only cure, like love, is the weapon which first caused the wound. Brilliant.

On the day the Academy Award(tm) nominations were announced, a Boston radio station also noted some worthy films that were bypassed, but would be out on Blu Ray(tm) and DVD soon, one of them being "The Last Quartet". The reporter only said "soon"; the actual date will be Tuesday, February 5th (I guess all DVDs are released on Tuesdays for some reason. Hmmm...a possible book title: "Tuesday the Rabbi Released a DVD").
