Flash Mobbing Beethoven in Nyack

Amazing happening last night here in Nyack, N.Y.,  with sold-out crowd of 190, and a few dozen turned away, for our new Beethoven film "Following the Ninth"--and fantastic "Ode to Joy" flash mob (35 musicians and singers) that followed.  Presented and promoted by the great Rivertown Film Society.  Plus a full "Moonlight Sonata" from Yashar Yaslowitz and my chat with Elliott Forrest of WQXR.

Tremendous and gratifying response from audience throughout. Special thanks to Arlene Keiser (music director) and Rob Keiser (conductor) on the flash mob and to Matthew Seig from Rivertown. We had only one rehearsal just before the show.

See video of the flash mob, from the balcony, below (the sound picks up a lot as you go along).  They do it twice, with audience joining in the 2nd time.   We'll be doing a full video of the flash mob, shot by four cameras on the floor, next week.  Also, see Bill Moyers' recent segment on our film.   Also an NPR "All Things Considered" segment on the film coming next week.

UPDATE:  Due to popular demand, there will  be another screening of film, with live piano selections, on Feb. 5 at Nyack Library.   And I kick off a series of four special Beethoven programs at Nyack Library on Jan. 11 at 7:30, with clips from movies about Beethoven and live piano sonatas with Yashar.

What a wonderful night for music lovers in Nyack! The pianist was wonderful, the movie, fascinating and the Flash Mob was extremely cool! Kudos to everyone involved and especially the members of the Nyack High School Choir!
