Before San Antonio Rose

Much deserved praise for the Spurs and their team play and years at high-level.  But before you go too overboard, consider that the Celtic of late 1950s and 1960s set the standard for that type of play, and for even longer.   Just check out this clip of some of the highlights of final game in 1963.  And the Lakers, much like Heat, had superstars--guys named Jerry West and Elgin Baylor,  considered two of the all-time ten best just a few years back.  I was a Cousy fan as long ago as 1957.  Enjoy from 1963 below.   And then in 1969, with Russell at age 36, the underdog Celtics managed to beat a Lakers team with three superstars that easily top the Heat's three--West, Baylor, and Wilt.
