Take This 'Waltz'

Patti Page, a big part of my pre-Elvis toddlerhood--with such as "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" and "Old Cape Cod"--has died, with most obits citing her "Tennessee Waltz."  Indeed, here is Johnny Cash on his old show paying tribute to her and introducing her singing it.  Her nickname, by the way, was "The Singing Rage, Miss Patti Page."  Below that, Sam Cooke's amazing version:

I've always thought that "Old Cape Cod" was a ridiculous song, except for the Town of Truro. Anywhere else, Cape Cod has been run for decades as a typical tourist destination with chain motels and hotels, chain restaurants (many national chains and a few Massachusetts chains like Friendly's while it flourished). A friend of mine with a family home there invited me and a few others to her house, so we could use her pahking sticker, but we had to be there early because the lots filled up well before noon. I doubt Atlantic City was more commercial than Cape Cod.
