Patti Page, a big part of my pre-Elvis toddlerhood--with such as "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" and "Old Cape Cod"--has died, with most obits citing her "Tennessee Waltz." I've always thought that "Old Cape Cod" was a ridiculous song, except for the Town of Truro. Anywhere else, Cape Cod has been run for decades as a typical tourist destination with chain motels and hotels, chain restaurants (many national chains and a few Massachusetts chains like Friendly's while it flourished). A friend of mine with a family home there invited me and a few others to her house, so we could use her pahking sticker, but we had to be there early because the lots filled up well before noon. I doubt Atlantic City was more commercial than Cape Cod.
