My post yesterday on the 5th anniversary of Colin Powell's day-that-will-live-in-infamy presentation to the U.N. on Iraq WMD proved quite popular, and actually today is the 5th anniversary of most of the media reaction. So here again is the E&P link and video below:

Electronic Intifada called it at the time:
Focus on Iraq: Powell's UN speech dissected
Ali Abunimah, The Electronic Intifada, 5 February 2003
5 years since Powell's speech.
It's also been 6 years and 174 days since 09/11/2001, 6 years and 174 days of Osama Bin Laden running free, unpunished and largely unworried by the half-arsed, resource-strapped joke of an effort to find him the Bush gov deigned to put up and amuse the populace.
And all of that so a clique in DC could have its splendid little war with Saddam. They couldn't "waste" any resource on something as trivial as OBL.
Powell's legacy is also that: OBL free more than 6 years after killing 2,974 persons on American soil.
I didn't actually watch the Colin Powell speech. My brother-in-law did and said "Yeah, it was convincing if Powell was your one and only source of information."
I was reading the aggregators Common Dreams, Counterpunch and Smirking Chimp and believe I counted 27 articles on them by February 8th, all of which said essentially, "He's so full of it, his eyes are turning brown!"
