Romney quit the race today, at the CPAC convention, saving a few dollars to pass on to his many sons (unless he runs again in 2012). He had argued that his sons were serving their country by campaigning for him, so now that he is out they will presumably be volunteering to fight in the war he and they so strongly support. Here's how he looked to the future: "Soon, the face of liberalism in America will have a new name. Whether it is Barack or Hillary, the result would be the same if they were to win the Presidency. The opponents of American culture would push the throttle, devising new justifications for judges to depart from the constitution. Economic neophytes would layer heavier and heavier burdens on employers and families, slowing our economy and opening the way for foreign competition to further erode our lead."
In other news, Joe Lieberman, who is backing McCain, just lost his "super-delegate" status with the Democrats. And here's a preview of what Joe Klein says in tomorrow's TIME cover story on the two Democratic candidates: "There is also—and I will try to tread lightly here—the classic high school girl/boy differential: the note-taking, front-row girl grind vs. the charismatic, last-minute cramming, preening male finesse artist." TIME also reports that 62% of Clinton backers would want her to put him on the ticket, but only 51% of Obama fans feel that way.
