Vanity Fair with '60 Minutes' has been sponsoring offbeat polls and the results of a new one have just been posted online. It's a legit nationwide poll, done by CBS News. Asked what job will become obsolete in the next 50 years, only tobacco farmers drew more votes of doom (28%) than newspaper reporters (26%).
Many more Americans look forward to Condi Rice's memoir than Bush's, Palin's or Cheney's. (Three percent of Democrats say they will read the Cheney tome, and VF asks, "Who ARE these people?") Only about 44% say they are taking any steps to ward off swine flu. Barely 4 in 10 say marijuana, should, indeed, be legalized. And so on. But here a more serious angle: only 60% say the U.S. should stay intact, with 10% voting to lop off Calif and 8% get rid of Texas. Back to the 48 stars!
