When we reported yesterday's Reuters-IPSOS poll showing Obama with a 7% lead we noted that this nearly matched his Pew spread which has been dismissed as an outlier even by such as Nate Silver. Further, Obama has consistently led by a bit in most polls, but most in media have insisted on calling the race "tied"--despite nearly every count giving Obama an edge in the Electoral College. Karl Rove, just today at the WSJ, called the race a tie which means, he says, that Romney "leads."
So now what will he and others do with this? CNN just reported that ITS poll now give the president a...wait for it....7% lead, at 52% to 45%. "Among independent voters, the poll indicates President Obama has a 53%-42% lead," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "The president holds a nine point advantage among women voters and a smaller six point edge among men." ...Among independents, the poll indicates Romney's image has taken a beating. In May, only 40% of independents had an unfavorable view of Romney. Now, 52% of independents have a negative view of him." And even Fox, of all outlets, today has Obama up by 9%.
