Lolo Jones Piece: Too 'Harsh'?

A good deal of criticism has been aired on the internet re: the recent NYT piece on Olympics star (at least in the hype)  Lolo Jones, and her self-marketing and allegedly selling sex.  Apparently the Times also received a good deal of mail, as its outgoing public editor Art Brisbane has just published his form letter to the many complainers.  "I believe writers like Jere Longman, who does have a long and worthy track record at The Times, should have some room to express their hard-earned perspective. But this piece struck me as quite harsh and left me, along with others, wondering why the tone was so strong."
