Publisher Pulls Rightwing Book on Jefferson
You may have read that the book that argues that Thomas Jefferson was--actually--a rabid Christian and--really--wanted to tear down wall between church and state was recently picked by historians as the least credible history book in print. No longer, because now its publisher, Thomas Nelson, has finally pulled it. The book, by David Barton--one of the nation's most influential evangelicals (pictured at left at GOP convention in 2004)--has the wonderful title, The Jefferson Lies. And to top it off: introduction by Glenn Beck. It's currently the best-selling book on Jefferson.
