In their weekly NYT online chat today, David Brooks and Gail Collins kick around tomorrow's big veep debate, with Brooks naturally picking his boy Paul Ryan to win. This is great news! For in 2008, he hailed Sarah Palin's sad performance, claiming she more than held her own against Joe Biden back then. You'd never know that all of the post-debate polls showed that he trounced her. But that's Brooks.
I'll have more later on his disgraceful display in 2008, when he told a NYC crowd, in a panel discusison he probably thought was under the radar, that Palin was completely unqualified to be vice president--but failed to state this in his column, instead praising her off and on, between raising mild questions about her experience. He even called her "courageous" and "smart."
