Tom Jefferson, Breaking Bad
Well, you learn something every day, or should. According to a new book, Thomas Jefferson ran a lucrative "nailery" at hallowed Monticello, staffed by teenage Negro slaves, of course, who helped him make so much money it easily paid for all of his groceries and home maintenance. The only competition? The state pen. Some of the boys got promoted to better positions, others not. But all were created equal--to hammer out those nails. A great read from my former teammate on The Nation softball team, early 1980s.
