The Limits of Confronting Gunman With Gun
Since Friday--hell, since practically the dawn of time--we've heard the argument that if we relaxed the few gun laws we have and allowed more people to pack then these mass killings would stop or decline in lethality. You know, arm every teacher and like that. Now here's a revealing story about a man who had a legal weapon, pulled it out, and had clear shot at the Clackamas mall shooter (who might have killed a dozen or more if rifle had not jammed) last week but did not pull the trigger--because he feared he would hit someone else nearby. And he stands by decision. Probably recognizes that nerves and frenzy can wreck a shot, or just that he's not an expert marksman to begin with.

Your last sentence was an unnecessary piece of negativity. He is an excellent and responsible gun owner. The first thing taught in any firearms course is not to shoot if you don't have a safe shot. If the background and periphery are not clear such that a stray or a miss could hit someone, you don't have a safe shot.
What's your point, OP? He was a responsible gun owner by NOT taking the shot when he knew it wasn't optimal. Your blog is simply an anti-gun vomit fest of uniformed misguided opinion.
