John Cale did three concerts in New York in the past week, including playing all of his classic Paris 1919, plus a tribute concert for fellow original Velvet, Nico. Reminds me of one of the revelations, for me, in the recent Leonard Cohen bio--how that lady's man was rejected over and over by Nico in the late 1960s, when she chose the frighteningly young (about 18) Jackson Browne over him. Jackson later gave her his song "These Days," which enjoyed a revival after it was in The Royal Tanenbaums.
