Exposing myself to (until now rare) charges of geekdom or even nerdiness, I have launched
a blog here to showcase my small collection of vintage baseball cards--mainly from 1880s to 1920. Since I am highlighting the "artiness" of these objects from back in the day, it was gratifying to get a shout out on Twitter this morning from none other than the executive editor of
Art News! Hell, these little slices of cardboard life do hang in a special gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I even went to a concert there last year in tribute to them, featuring Peter Buck of REM.
