NYT's Scott Shane just picked up on Ars Technica's apparent scoop, linking Edward Snowden to posts a few years back (2009) from Switzerland in which he disparaged leakers and even suggested they should be "shot" in at least one case--"in their private parts." “They’re reporting classified” material, he wrote, suggesting that both
the leak and the article were dangerous to national security. But Shane sees this as evidence of how his views "evolved," starting in Switzerland.
