Behind the Scenes
Either a very clever or more likely unintentionally funny bit of writing in today's NYT. In an arts piece, Alexis Soloski previews a new (if unlikely) play, opening tonight in NYC, based on the infamous Toni Bentley 2005 "erotic" memoir mainly about her introduction to...anal sex, titled "The Surrender." Soloski attends rehearsals and in passing complements Bentley on her still-slim figure which she describes this way, which would be unusual for the Times even without the added dimension of the subject of her book and play: "so fashionably slender she seemed to have almost no bottom at all..."
