Bob Dylan recorded his massively influential first (real) electric single--and you might say first "rap" song--50 years ago today. My initial exposure to it, I recall, came in my high lunch room where some proto-hipster had already copied out the then-thoroughly crazy lyrics on a sheet of paper. Here are some fun video takes. First the one that might have invented the music video, from "Don't Look Back," with director's commentary, no less. (Few know it was shot in London, not Greenwich Village.) Then a parody from the great Tim Robbins movie, "Bob Roberts." Then a fake but fun claim that actually Bob stole it from a Brit singer entertaining the troops...
