Utterly fantastic Beethoven violin concerto last night with Lisa Batiashvili, young violinist from (former Soviet) Georgia at Alice Tully in NYC. Best I've seen live and it is high praise to say that it reminded me of Milstein. And that was just the start. Second half was LvB's "Eroica" symphony--where merely changed everything in Western music, as Haydn said. Here's Lisa talking about the concerto. "Time stops...it comes from heaven."
