Niallism Redux

We were just about the first to critique Niall Ferguson's Newsweek cover story ripping Obama several days ago, followed the debate and linked to others, directed folks to Ferguson's replies, and then stepped away.   No time to catch up fully--Paul Krugman made the same admission today while directing people to Matthew O'Brien at The Atlantic who replies at length to Ferguson's point-by-point rebuttal to his own critique.  so I will do the same.  Dig in, if you have time.   And don't expect any Newsweek corrections or editor's notes.
