Even If It Saves Obama--Get Rid of Electoral College

UPDATE:  Possibly one poll Rasmussen got right: Americans want to axe Electoral College by 2-1 margin.

Earlier: As if in answer to my plea, Slate has crunched the numbers and published an interactive map displaying the gross inquities and undemocratic nature of the damn Electoral College.    I wrote a column a couple weeks back on this, in which I took numbers from just a couple of states to show how people in a larger state have as little as half the power of those in smaller states (because electoral votes are calculated by taking the state's number of members of Congress plus their two Senators).

So Wyoming, for example, gets one electoral vote per 142,000 people--and New York gets one for over 500,000 folks, such as me.  Even without that unfairness, I'd be against it because it reduces the contest to a handful of states and essentially disenfranchises the vast majority of voters across the nation in presidential races, from red Texas to blue Massachusetts.

Note:  The first e-book on Obama-Romney race has been published--and it's mine!  Covers contest right up to Election Night--and includes over 500 clickable links.
