UPDATE Wednesday: And now, lo and behold, the U.S. Embassy has gone back and scrubbed its Twitter feed to get rid of the "offending" tweet linking to Stewart video! The Embassy went so far as take down its entire account. "Foreign Policy reported
that the decision to take the account down was made by the American
ambassador in Cairo, Anne Patterson, without consulting her superiors in
Washington. According to an unnamed official who spoke to FP, the State
Department then pressed the ambassador to reverse course, “lest it
appear that the United States is caving to the online pressure.”
UPDATE Tuesday: Wow, wild day and NYT has full wrapup. It seems the U.S. Embassy tweeted a link to last night's Daily Show, followed by the Egyptian prez's office hitting them for engaging in this political act. Meanwhile, Bassem reports that another serious complaint has been lodged against him. And the Muslim Brotherhood is involved. And all this, via Twitter! And more!
Earlier: Jon took up the cause of jailed "Jon Stewart of Egypt' (who, watch, he once had on his show) and attacks Egypt's leader Monday night.
